Even the pelting rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the VFX faithful last night for the annual VFX Bakeoff at the Academy’s Goldwyn Theater. Fueled by swell eats from Kate’s and happy chats with old friends, the Raz PR team settled in to watch the industry’s best work. All seven reels were crazy impressive. The promise of virtual moviemaking is without a doubt, delivering.
 
It was exciting to see the contributions of Raz PR clients — Prime Focus/Avatar, Embassy VFX/District 9, Digital Domain/2012, Transformers and Star Trek, and the brilliant use of technology from NVIDIA (GPU processing by Scanline/2012) and Autodesk (Maya, 3dsMax, and MotionBuilder as part of Lightstorm’s digital cinematography workflow/Avatar).
